Jenny’s Review on the Simpson SWT704

Hello everyone. I’m Jenny.

No doubt many of you will have read my husband’s brief introduction. Not to mention his obnoxious remarks about domestic chores.

Most men aren’t as lazy or indeed as sexist as Evan. I wish he could be like his friends who know how to use a washing machine. It isn’t as if they’re terribly complicated things to use.

The average Aussie bloke these days washes his own clothes. I have friends who live in Mackay in central Queensland. Their husbands work out on the mines, and their work clothes often are washed separately to the rest of the family’s. It isn’t healthy washing all that coal dust and muck in the same load as school uniforms.

For that kind of repeated washing of heavy loads, I’d recommend the good old Aussie Simpson SWT704. This model is so new that lazy Evan hasn’t managed to upload its details up on the Bi-Rite website yet. So let me tell you a bit about it.

The SWT704 is a top load machine with a large 7.5 kg capacity. For such a big machine, it goes light on both energy and water. It’s 3-star WELS rated. For every 365 cold washes, it uses only 85 kWh of power. That’s much more energy efficient than other machines of similar capacity.

Top end loaders are also easy on the back. I’m thinking of buying one for my mum. She has fairly severe arthritis in her knees, and I didn’t feel comfortable with her bending or crouching down to load and unload her washing. Though I doubt she’d need something as big as the Simpson SWT704.
